Riding an eFoil or jetboard on Lake Conroe
Conroe is the default Houston lake and one of the most usable bodies of water in Texas for an electric board. It is large, open, and warm enough that the season runs most of the year — a lot of Conroe owners ride ten or eleven months.

The water
Conroe is wide and relatively shallow compared to the Hill Country lakes, with plenty of open basin and a long developed shoreline through the Bentwater and April Sound side. Open water means it picks up wind and it holds chop — that is the main thing to plan around.
The coves and the more sheltered northern arms are where calm water lives. If you are foiling, that is where you want to be.
When to ride
Early morning, without exception. Conroe gets both wind and heavy boat traffic, and both arrive early on summer weekends.
Shoulder seasons are the sweet spot. March through May and September through November: warm water, less traffic, calmer air.
Summer weekends are the worst conditions on this lake. Not unrideable on a jetboard, but not the day to learn to foil.
Board choice matters more here
On a chop-prone lake, the Awake RÄVIK jetboard is the right default. It handles rough water without complaint and the learning curve is short.
The Awake VINGA eFoil is superb on Conroe at dawn in a sheltered arm, and frustrating on it at 2 p.m. in July. If you are buying for Conroe specifically, be honest with yourself about what time you will actually be on the water.

You can buy a board from anywhere. Service is the part that decides whether year two is any good. We are a certified Awake service center in New Braunfels — for Houston and Conroe owners we arrange drop-off, pickup and freight rather than having you crate a board out of the country.
